Did someone say movie night....

Okay so I am almost packed and ready to go on the Caribbean cruise with my Husband's family. I have been anxious for the past couple days with regards to flying. It is not my most favorite thing to do. So my mind wonders to the things that make me relax. How fun would an outdoor movie night be. I would love to try this out a the family cottage this year, the kids would love it. I guess there is no way for the cow to be included. We could start with dinner outside and then on to a double feature. It would surely be a Disney classic double feature, Freaky Friday and Herbie the Love Bug. Did I ever mention to you that my son G loves old Disney Movies we have a ton on DVD, such a cute kid~ Happy weekend to you!

Quick note and then back to packing~

So I have a mind that goes in fifty million directions a day. So many things I want to accomplish and not enough time, oh never enough time. That little nasty word CAREER gets in the way, there's no way around it. So I have been thinking lately how to fit in everything I love~ I thought for the past week about just throwing the blogging thing out the window. I have not been putting a lot into it for some time. But just like my mind goes a new idea popped up and it got me to thinking. I love the whole blogging thing and the sweet girls I have met along the way! I have always just stumbled around trying to find the best little area of blogging I fit into. And you know what who cares what group or class I fall into. I am just gonna do what I love and go from there. One of my most favorite people in the world told me "You need to do what you love to be happy in life". So I am getting on that road to do what I love. It is a dream of mine to have weekend sales with a farm/country atmosphere. It may take a year to get there but that's the road I am headed on. So to get there I am going to change the look of the blog and officially close down http://www.honeybendvintage.com/ . So the images up top will be a focal point of the new blog. The one thing that will surely stay the same is that picture of that little farm house and the name Honey Bend. We will tell you the story when the new blog look pops up in a couple months. I think through trial and error Honey Bend Vintage has ended up right where it needs to be~

liVinG tHe ViNtAgE lIfE

So on Grant St we have been living vintage, that's right for about 9 days to be exact. When I say that we just did not hit the mother load at the neighborhood estate sale. Our air conditioning broke Memorial Day weekend. And let me tell you it was hot and muggy here that Saturday. We finally got someone to come out after the @#$* down the street did not show up. That's a whole different story and he's lucky the carton of eggs did not come out(now really I 'm classier then that, wink*wink) Anyhoo repairman 2 came out Monday, guess what the motor was blown. And guess why, sweet hubby of mine was not cleaning the filters enough. I do still love him. So the motor was ordered and move forward to Sat the 30, it arrived. But guess what we needed a new power pack(what ever that is). It was supposed to be here today. Guess what they forgot to unload it off the truck. Bye Bye power pack, it will be here on Tuesday. I think I freaked the repairman out when I told him I kicked my husband's arse. When he finally realized I was joking he could not stop laughing. It is never a dull moment here on Grant St. Through it all we had a super fun weekend with a graduation party at the house and a trip to the amusement park!! So keep your fingers crossed for the AC to be crankin' Tuesday. Keep them crossed real tight for my husband's sake, it's going to be hot tomorrow. And I still really do love him , even after our bill hit 4 digits!

You called my chairs what~

I know that our husbands totally don't get the whole vintage thing, right? Mine rarely says anything he plays along so well with all my finds. But this time he just did not get it. My parents friends the McCall's gave me these wonderful metal retro chairs. The McCall's are wonderful people and they were so kind to give me four of them from there. My brother carted them back from our family cottage in Michigan, My sweet husband was so bothered that I had brought more "furniture" into our house. They sat in our driveway for a week or two and he finally had enough. His exact words were " are you gonna let those hillybilly chairs sit there any longer. My response was hillbilly chairs, do you know what a great find those are and they were free! I added them to the front porch and love them. I need to run out and mix the chairs up after looking at the pics, but you get the idea. He still does not get it! But I can bet he will be sitting on one this weekend, kickin' back and relaxin' on the front porch~
P.S. Instead of sitting out on the deck with a fire and the ball game blaring last night, we sat on the front porch~ And it's still driving him crazy. "Bristol I have to sand these chairs down and paint them they look bad. As much as I love your stuff the neigbors don't get it:) But they are super comfortable and they rocked Griffin to sleep"

Mail Call and Some Not so Fresh Flowers

Since I did not have time this week to get fresh flowers I threw these together. So easy and it took me all of 15 minutes. I folded my tea dyed coffee filters in an accordian fold and secured with a wire in the middle. When secure pull out each layer of the fold. I attached a bamboo skewer for the stem. Not so fresh, but oh so pretty~I saw this great idea in Midwest Living to use old mailboxes for storage. I always struggle for a place to put mail and I thought this would do the trick. Not having an old mailbox I went 5 minutes down the road for a black mailbox at Lowes. It worked perfect and will do the job until I find a nice old chippy one~
