You called my chairs what~

I know that our husbands totally don't get the whole vintage thing, right? Mine rarely says anything he plays along so well with all my finds. But this time he just did not get it. My parents friends the McCall's gave me these wonderful metal retro chairs. The McCall's are wonderful people and they were so kind to give me four of them from there. My brother carted them back from our family cottage in Michigan, My sweet husband was so bothered that I had brought more "furniture" into our house. They sat in our driveway for a week or two and he finally had enough. His exact words were " are you gonna let those hillybilly chairs sit there any longer. My response was hillbilly chairs, do you know what a great find those are and they were free! I added them to the front porch and love them. I need to run out and mix the chairs up after looking at the pics, but you get the idea. He still does not get it! But I can bet he will be sitting on one this weekend, kickin' back and relaxin' on the front porch~
P.S. Instead of sitting out on the deck with a fire and the ball game blaring last night, we sat on the front porch~ And it's still driving him crazy. "Bristol I have to sand these chairs down and paint them they look bad. As much as I love your stuff the neigbors don't get it:) But they are super comfortable and they rocked Griffin to sleep"

  3. That made me laugh. Hillybilly chairs...I say they are adorable and the porch looks so cozy. Light the candles would you and I'll have some tea or Sangria. Whatever you've got;)

  4. My grandparents had the same chairs on their patio and I loved them. I have been trying to find some for years but they are surprisingly quite expensive at flea markets in my area.

  5. We blogging friends totally get it. Husbands not so much! I have two of the same chairs that I got curb side shopping and I love them. They are around our fire pit and they get a lot of use. Take care!

  7. Good morning Bristol :)

You're not alone! The other day I admired some chairs just like those on someone else's porch and my hubby called them something worse. I stood there in shock and said "Do you have any idea how collectable those are??" He just shook his head LOL I'll find some anyway :)

    Love your porch!

  14. I LOVE those chairs. I got my eye on a pair of them. My husband would be the same as yours. Of course throwing a piece of fabric over an ugly desk is entirely NOT hillbilly in his world.

  15. gosh - i love the chair. have you see the latest BHG magazine "100 ideas ~ flea market style"? the cover is SO your chair.

one time i excitedly carried in these giant wooden painted chippy and slightly stinky screens. my younger son said, "mom -- what are you bringing into our house?"

  18. I didn't know you had a blog in addition to your website, Bristol! I love it! And as a neighbor, I love, love, love your chairs. I noticed your new front porch immediately and even told Andy how nice I thought it looked. And the fabric—so pretty!

  19. THE NERVE!!! Sounds so much like my hubby. :) He moped around half the day on Saturday while he was cleaning the garage for a rainy 4th of July. He was reminded of all of the "junk" I have in there and could not convince me that one of the largest pieces should go on the burn pile. Ack!
